Great article. Sad to say nobody cares about it all.We have people out of their depth running many government quangos.Its all about “jobs for the boys”. Would any other political party in the land do it differently.? The answer is no.

Based on the tailbacks now encountered an alternative fee collection system might have been more appropriate - 2 men with buckets walking between the cars. Big buckets !

Can this ‘tax’ be challenged in any way?

Can anyone verify my estimates here - they must be wrong!
If not then there is really something very scary going on here…

17 years @ €2 per day = €12410 per user

I hear the number of users per day is 100000, so that’s:

* €1,241,000,000 paid so far in tolls
* plus €488,000,000 (or is it €650,000,000 ?) from our taxes that the government gave NTR.
Total: 1,729,000,000

* plus €100,000 on advertising (who paid for that?)
* plus cost of demolition of the pay for boothes? (I heard that cost €23,000,000 - is that true?)
