"FAS chairman Peter McLoone clocked up a €7,300 bill travelling business class to Orlando". Is this the same Peter McLoone who, according to today's RTE news, is leading the protest by some public sector employees against the Government's introduction of the increased pension contribution designed to bring the state's budget back into balance?

Good work Shane, I was excited to be on a trip home to Ireland when the story broke. It confirmed the unjustified notion of entitlement that Ireland's ruling classes have always had. When I escaped the recession and misery of Ireland circa 1992 for the opportunity of America the memories of Haughey's extravagance on the nation's tab were fresh in the mind. One hoped that such pilfering would become a thing of the past, and not worth risking exposure on the nation's airwaves. But it is good to know that the sense of untouchability and denial can be exposed by such excellent journalism, long may you continue to reveal such injustices.

I applaud you sir in this cause. The way the elected leaders and public servents abuse power is this country is akin to a third world country. Perhaps you might further the cause against FAS and demand that Rody Molloy does not get the 300,000 golden handshake. That could be the ways for 10 people for a year!

We the plain hardworking tax paying people of Ireland, are thankful to the whistleblowers who blew this scandal wide open.
It is extremely sad to see an organisation supposedly to retrain people for a new job having already lost a previous one, being hijacked by a few who are only interested in self aggrandisement.
The good name of FAS is now destroyed and with it all credibility is lost.
The organisation requires new management from the boardroom down and a restructuring of its core function so that the same dishonesty never happens again.

Congratulations on exposing this excessive waste of tax-payers money. This is my money, hard earned and placed in trust with our political leaders. I am a hard-working father of three children, and have always tried to instill in them values of integrity and honesty. Sadly, over the last ten years our economic boom has lowered standards this now being evident in parts of our (trusted) state agencies and their lack of a moral code.

Shane, most people like me are angry and frustrated however lack the means or ability to voice this. Trust in our political system is at a very low mark. I am grateful you have the ability and courage to challenge these abuses. Thank you.

Des Meade.

Well done to Shane Ross and friends for uncovering such a terrible waste of taxpayers money. The people who squandered these large sums of money on travel and entertainment are so unbelievably out of touch with reality and are living way beyond our ( taxpayers ) means.

How the can retain any credibility is baffling and their total disregard for the ethos of the Public Service which is supposed to seek value for money at all times, makes then wholly unsuitable to be retained in their vastly overpaid jobs.
